At the heart of her practice is a fascination with transformation: how familiar things evolve, how separate elements influence one another, and how new relationships emerge. Sustained observation reveals subtleties and connections that might otherwise go unnoticed, offering fresh directions for her work.

Tomlinson began intensive studies with internationally renowned artist Nancy Crow in 2011. This rigorous training in composition has challenged her to question familiar solutions and take risks. In 2018, she left a longstanding career in the not-for-profit sector to devote herself fully to her studio practice.

Based in Toronto, Tomlinson has exhibited internationally and is a founding member of Textile Art Gallery NYC. In 2026, she was selected as one of 42 Canadian artisans featured in the Michelangelo Foundation's Homo Faber Guide.
